Hawaii has an active insurance mandate requiring coverage of AAC devices and services. The state offers full self-determination options for individuals with disabilities. There are currently no waiting lists for services.

1. Contact Hawaii's Department of Health and Human Services
2. Request an AAC evaluation from a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
3. Submit documentation to Medicaid for device funding
4. Apply for applicable HCBS waiver programs
5. File an insurance claim under the state mandate
